I don't have any words for how effective of a Finale this is. I think one thing that has defined Bumrush's run is something that i love so much about their comics. They have almost entirely a focus on the opponent character, Bumrush is a simple character with a simple presentation and never tries to be anything more, the opponent character is allowed to take as much of the spotlight as they want and as a result their reaction to BR is allowed to flavor our perception of them ENTIRELY.
All this has been accomplished, all while Bumrush has said **NOTHING.** EVER. You have accomplished something by giving a purely silent, stagnant character an identity and they never said even a single word. I almost dont even count the "Mind your head" because that feels like an entirely different character, a completely different person from the beast of a man we see now. Actual development and conclusion to Freya's story feels so fucking satisfying it is amazing. That entire narration is so emotionally resonant. it takes its time, it concludes, the entire scene of her ASCENDING back through all the characters we had already met, the bitter sweet feeling of finally finding what she came here for,, GOD.
She really FEELS tired, like the character we've seen come this far and overcoming hardship after hardship, only to see that her end goal only drives those who seek it MAD. What a dizzyingly good conclusion, it truly has everything. The cameos, the conclusion, the thematic conclusion to what truly lies at the end of a bottomless pit. It is nothing but madness, turn back at once. The ascension really is such a smart choice, its such a clever way to show how far we've progressed while paying homage to the characters who made it this far. I could go on about this comic forever but i will just say this.
Thank you for showing up and giving my first Solo Tournament a finale i will never forget <3
You truly are a champion. I have voted BUMRUSH as the winner of Infinity Chasm.
Holy shit it has been a bit since i have gotten to see Wgni comics in Full Fucking Color but i am SO glad that we got to see it in this last bit of the tournament, and your comics are fantastic and well paced and your color choice for this comic is dingy and COLD. it feels ancient and it sells the vibe of this derelict underground city of machines so well! The vision for what lies in the deepest depths of The Chasm being this society that chased itself back into the stone age through its ravenous craving for eternity is fucking powerful and i fuck with the vision a looott!
Bumrush being this primeval force of NATURE is so perfectly depicted here, having their presence in the comic heralded in fucking LEGENDS & MYTHS is such a smart way to do Bumrush, who has almost always serves more as a driving force of the plot than a fully fleshed out character themselves. Its the kind of character treatment i love seeing, something unique using the premise of the character as the MAIN THING that makes this round special, you cant make this comic work with ANY other character and it is a FANTASTIC payoff to the setup that is BUMRUSH.
An absurd sisyphisian greek statue of a man used as a battery to fuel this society, that page turn was a jaw dropping guffaw that i fucking adored, and the fact that all these man-like beasts are essentially, mutatied off of Bumrush's DNA? thats a freaky as fuck realization and i love all the implications that this twist gives.
The true decision came down to this, Myeth's comic accomplished a ridiculous amount as a conclusion to an OCT. The only thing i can think of for negatives is the occasional lack of a background that would make the composition feel awkward or the abruptness of the ending, where as Myeth's comic feels like an ending in its entirety, and takes more than enough time with it. This comic was a fantastic round with a lot of build up leading to a legendary payoff. Thank u Wgni, Id be happy to have you in any finale of mine o7

Hell yeah!!! Hell yeah!!!! I can't believe I missed this OCT, and missed your wonderful naked freak, Myeth! Truly atmospheric final comic, I adore every single panel that supports the next and culminates into a fantastic overall comic.
Absolutely crazy business. Congratu-feckin-lations on the win my old compadre.

MYETH- I don't know if that font was found modified or you pulled that style outta nowhere but way to set such an ominous tone right out the gate. I LOVE the look of that text. I love that this race to bottom was subverted with Bumrush as the living cautionary tale. Yo' boy's mad, there's so much mystery as to what exactly turned him into the individual Freya only needs to encounter once to really reconsider her one way passion for discovery.
Your paneling and page composition never ceases to inspire. You have such a good marriage of flashbacks and present moments mixed- some on the very same page that feels so distinct that you aren't lost going from one moment to the next.
WGNI- From the get your backgrounds are really your strength. I can't get over how much lore and personality has been found within the deepest recesses of this chasm where your comics are concerned. Not even that, but you've populated it with all manner of interesting creatures that aren't just set dressing, but Freya is actually interested in, interacts with and has things to say.
What a twist to find a monstrous architect to all this subterranean madness ,and doubly amusing Bumrush is in his birthday suit across two comics. You're killing me with this cliffhanger of sorts. I think the mystery of the chasm is the answer here, but the curiouso in me is dying for more pages as to Freya's fate. Still , all in all great showing!
I love that you two have made this final round not only a memorable one, but definitely a hard vote for the esteemed judge of it. best of luck!

Man... oh man. I feel schooled.
Myeth's comic - to me - feels like what the last round of an OCT should be like, in complete opposition to mine.
It's about the characters, the conclusion to their development that took place over several rounds of writing and build-up. Man, the difference is even evident in the description blurbs... It sounds obvious and it frankly should be, but it's a real signpost in my face of what I have to improve on in the future.
There's more that can be said about this comic. The paneling (and sometimes deliberate absence thereof) is great, the little splashes of color in otherwise greyscale give some real emphasis on the page and I >love< the expressions. Many things like that and more things that I simply cannot properly articulate, but what ultimately hit me the most was the writing.
This is some good shit.
