i'm too comicked out to perform critical analysis but i wanna say i really appreciate this battle! love the high-powered logical extreme of wrestling coming from footini, and a good start for camel; i love a "our interests seem to align" partnership!

Piñata

Voted and voted. Big agree- I didn't think Lu and Jaja would mesh so well but they may as well be Peanut butter and jelly

Sparkle Magic Didi™

i love these ladies, i love punching, this battle was made for me

Rivana

Voted! I REALLY HOPE I SEE MORE OF THESE TWO ONE DAY. It's a team-up/battle I did not know I needed and now I can't get enough!

this was a great comic even in its unfinished stat I loved how the Jaja and Lu both naturally and comically feel into working together and I am a diehard for backyard wrestling so this was a great setting from the jump. I am confused why Lu was having so much trouble though just from the past comics that seems like she'd blow through those 2 goons like wet paper! though setup wise it pays off so well with that absolutely panicked uncertain look she shares with Jaja which is 100 percent gold. the only mark I have against the comic is page 2's two panel split layout. I think it would have been a bit better to have the bubbles bouncing between the two panels maybe and even have it so that lu is like " these must be the guys" or something like that. I'd say great comic overall even if time got slipped away from you.

Footini you double liar there was an amazing single punching xD( i grammar-ed that wrong on purpose!) I loved the comic was a great setup you showed the strengths of both characters and I loved the fight all the way through! Spectacular nod to the no hands toe grip that s#!% was so genius and the perspective shot at the bottom of 7 and the 1st panel of 8 is phenomenal! gave of major girl-boss/boa Hancock vibes and I love it! the clashing of the fist was super intense and I loved every part of it especially the " you guys just stood there for 20 mins" was great! Oh! I almost forgot I love the costume designs for both of them and I love that Lu came prepared to wrastle! your able to hammer out such great stories with all these characters I can see how much you love making comics with every entry! keep rockin baby!

Camel - Really love your setup here. The pages you got finished look so clean and the expressions are really good! A Lu and Jaja team-up is definitely something I'll be looking forward to one day. I love buddy cop movies and these two lovely and powerful ladies definitely have the right chemistry for it. This writing style of yours is different from your previous comics and I know I already said how versatile you are and this yet proves your impressive range of skills in comic making. I appreciate the note at the end and how earnest it is. This better not be the last time we see you. I always look forward to your stuff!

Footini - AWW YISS JAJA IN THE HOUSE! Love your color choices in this one. Very fitting the fun and lighthearted mood you were going for. I had a blast watching the different wrestling moves done by both Lu and Jaja and that little back-and-forth they had with each other was great to see. I felt like I was right there in the action with them. I already said this on Camel's side but these two are definitely going to be a great team in the future - wrestling or otherwise! Their fighting styles and powers are quite similar too. lol at that poor guy on the ceiling fan. Someone help him XDDD

I can tell you were coming in with a strong idea, but it sucks that time crept up on you because I would've liked to have seen where this was going. Your setup looked promising and your figurework was already looking solid. I'm also glad to see how you handled Jaja's expressiveness and wild takes, which add to the comedy of her backyard gig. That said, I'm still trying to figure out what Lu's deal is, even knowing there was a time crunch going on. Is she a rookie bounty hunter? Was it wrong place wrong time? What's her fighting experience like? Maybe we'll get to see this next time.

Your Jaja comics are always a fun read, and this is no exception! I'm really glad you stuck with the dead simple story of "here comes a new challenger" and just rolled with it. What I like about Jaja is that she can slide into goofy shenanigans and still be a badass, and it seems like you got to rub a bit of that off Lu as well. I also like how you changed up the shading for key moments, which is a classic comic technique. The only bit I can really scrutinize is the backgrounds when they do show up since they feel like an afterthought, but given the nature of this battle that isn't a totally bad thing.

I'm glad you got to embrace Jaja's goofiness and badassery here! Always looking forward to seeing more!

It's a bummer you couldn't finish your comic, especially because what you do have is so cool! I would have loved to have seen the whole thing, but you also know what you have to work on to finish other comics, so that's still a valuable lesson!

I love the setup of this backyard wresting match being crashed by Lu's do-goodery. I was a little confused who was cluing her in to the muggers, but I gathered it's just a source of hers. I think a little balloon tail to the phone would have helped make it more clear it was some guy texting her. (I got there, it just took me a bit) It's a super shame you couldn't get to the actiony bits because I think that's the kind of stuff you excel at! Even your rough shots look rad. Your comics are always a treat, even if life happens and we run out of time.

Jaja is fun, the way you draw Lu is fun, all of your work is fun!! I love this little scrap between these two and all the jokes put a smile on my face. I love that these gals are evenly matched, and the fight comes to a satisfying (and funny) conclusion. I feel a bit out of the loop with Jaja since I haven't read much of her from her time on Void, but this is a great display of her personality, if her power set is still a bit unclear to me. (She says no energy blasts then starts glowing green! She fights dirty) I LOVE that Lu takes off her outfit to reveal an even more covering luchador outfit underneath, it's peak comedy. If I had to nitpick one thing, I'd say your backgrounds could be a bit more elaborate? But that's just nitpicking, and a full color comic is loads of work! You should be proud, this was fab! Can't wait to see more from Jaja ♥

Your first couple of pages were really strong! I always enjoy your line work and your use of blacks for shading. Also from what you were able to share with us, your action felt pretty strong over all, especially in those sketches/gestures for page 7!

Of course, I would have loved to see the comic complete, but I hope you aren't too tough on yourself for not being able to finish the comic in time. It happens to everyone and sometimes life just has other plans. You're a really great comic artist and I look forward to what you submit next!

Footini, this is such a strong first comic, and such a great comic overall. You really did an excellent job here. This is some of your strongest overall coloring, big improvement with your dialog balloon placement, the costume designs are great and I really like how you pushed your self with the action in this and it paid off.

Like, im just over the moon with this one dude, this is one of your strongest comics to date. You just one up yourself every battle you do I feel like.

The only critique that comes to mind for me off the bat is some of the proportions get a little wonky, in a way that doesn't look intentional.(example, pg 1, Lu, last panel, face seems much longer because the mouth is small and placed down way low) and that just comes with more study and practice.

seriously dude, excellent job, this whole thing is stunning and looks really slick. You really knocked it out of the park my friend! I WANT MORE JAJA.

What's here looks very intriguing; and I'm a sucker for a good team-up between potential rivals, so very interested to see a final version of this if it manifests. Good job with the writing here as far as quickly and efficiently setting up where each OC involved finds themselves and giving the reader a reason to care how it turns out for them. I find myself very invested in the outcomes both for Jaja's fighting career and Lu's search for justice. The completed pages have a lot of character to them, and something really enjoyable is forming here from what I can see :)

GREAT visual gags here, and a nice use of color to sell the comic violence of it all. The set-up and flow of the action feels approrpiate, adn you've placed Lu and Jaja into the narrative very deftly. The one weakness that stands out to me after a read is that the ending gag takes a beat to process, and doesn't feel *quite* like the strong ending the comic deserves. It's not a bad gag, it just lacks...hmmm...punctuation? like I'd expect another page of content to follow. But that's neither here nor there; really nice work on this comic, good use of both characters as combatants, and a lot of fun energy ;)

Piñata

I am so tickled by your variety of facial diversity with the goons and your opponent. I don't know if you're purposely making Lu stand out with the profile you've provided, but she does. I haven't decided if its too off the wall, toony or a mystery you've yet to reveal. Either way color me intrigued.
Despite this being unfinished this had some great beats and funny moments. I especially loved Jaja's split screen of "we can take em!" to "uh..we can take em right?"
As for workflow, I'll be the last one to discourage legible thumbnails and sketches, but just from the bit I've seen your sketches are HYPER detailed. Almost gratuitously so. It may be something to consider simplifying when you go back to review your workflow to find things to edit. If you have the base idea, your time sink and details can go into the final inks. Still- a comic from Camel is always welcome- definitely hope to see more of Lu!

Piñata

It is clear you are in your element with this wrasslin comic. The dynamic feats in the ring, the punchy and eclectic panel design and page composition, and the wit and humor I'd expect from a footini comic- down to the hands free signature footini ring grip maneuver XD. You really found your groove here and the comic sings. It was great to see how you established the rapport between Jaja and Lu and your use of colors really played their part in punctuating some key moments. Not to mention those wrasslin outfits are SLICK.I really hope you keep up this momentum- seeing your work come this far from your far off origins has been a treat.

Despite the fact you had to deal with bad habits towards the end, which is super understandable and you did explain it at the final page, thankfully— I still really love the noir style of inking and the way you wrote them teaming up against the goons. It’s really empowering and sweet! I think a lot of other people would love the bit as well! Also, I want you to remember, being late and not able to finish properly is valid and not everyone finishes their comic 100% every time. I hope you get better next time though, if possible. This one looked badass and I loved it a lot!

Footi, this is very awesome and punchable, I hope you’re making more comics like this one too in the future! I don’t think I know any clear-cut critiques at the moment, so I’ll go with compliments for now; you managed to do the poses so clearly and beautifully. Wrestling poses are very challenging to draw for many artists and you just did it, mad lad! And not to mention, the coloring is aesthetically pleasant, too. Just like Camel’s comic. Except yours is more pastel-ish. Which is unique for a wrestling story! I like it though, hope to see more of you experimenting with styles later on if possible.
