Cool character and worldbuilding. I almost want to criticize your lack of any proper environments, but if your background game is weak, you're doing a good job of masking it. The brief cutaways you give us are exactly enough information to keep us following along and aware of a space just outside the panel borders. You do it well enough that I almost want to emulate you, but I think it would be a bad habit to pick up. Your efficiency will serve you well in battle deadlines, but just don't let it bite you in the ass. Pull that camera way back even just once per location transition, and you'll be golden.

Footini

missed the chance to vote but I wanted to say I really like this one a lot. It did a lot in setting up some worldbuilding and the cyberpunk feel of it all is my JAM!
I'll definitely remember this android for when the site opens up proper.

Doygie

CLEAN!! This comic is so good and straightforward - you pace your beats and information so well! Loving it, Nachte!! 💙

RedStalk

Cool is heck

Charlemagne

You'd think an organization built around dismantling narrative-driven structures would anticipate the impending hero's dilemma!
Awesome work.

Snowy

The lighting from the phone and tv really set the ambience of the comic. Paired with the tiny details added on the console and the TV itself, it looks nice. Side note, I love the phone charm and the bean bag chair so much, I wish I had one of each! I do wish there were more, but what we got I liked.

CornOfTheBreads

I really love how stoic this character comes off as while doing his job but in his personal life has cute little interest, I think my favorite part of the comic was the dark undertones setting up what their job actually is with the implications of taking a children's toy and neutralizing the owner which one could surmise is a child and the fact he doesnt seem to enjoy it. Very great cant wait to read more of this character in the future!

Sleepy

Absolutely loving this dude and his design-- and his crew! I really hope they show up in the future, im so interested to see them all interacting on missions :3

InkySlime

Excited to see what's next!

This is both a neat whiplash forward into futuretech, but also a love letter to the retro of old. Not just in the sweet lil Nintendo console nods, but in the characters whole design. They feel new and old- an assimilation of both perhaps. I thought I knew what I was reading as thy were checking their phone and playing their games- you set the stage for a great pedestrian slice of life, but with a robot. Perhaps it still is, who knows? But then we switch over to a briefing and missions and totems? Oh no the comics ending! What's gonna happen? I gotta know! XD

CornOfTheBreads

There is a lot good in this comic I really enjoy the character focus in the story and the tone of the comic really sets up the character very well! I will say I am unsure if the main character is supposed to come off as unable to speak or just chose not to speak to anyone, the effect does make him feel very stoic, which I do enjoy with the opening but it can leave the character a little confusing and up to interruption especially for an intro comic. I think Id also like to see a little more of a drawn background of the organization, its a really cool setting but besides D-R8K's room we see very little of the world. None of these things ruin the comic for me and it is so well done I love the little implications and subtle story telling with some really cool character art, over all great work!

I like the art style and the character designs (the uniforms especially are a good mix between futuristic and grounded). The main character hasn't said anything, but I can still glean something from their body language, so that's well done. The body language is good for all of the characters (even if the poses are a little stiff), but it stands out more with D-R8K when it's (so far) their only form of communication. The setup is interesting, and I'm excited to see where things go.

P.S. That robot has no business being milked up to the nines like that, god damn those are some pecs.

Rivana

Loved seeing D-R8K playing some old school pixel sprite game (Was that Stardew Valley?) . As someone who looks like he had the latest tech and gadgets on his person, this is such a cute quirk to have. Your sense of colors and lighting are very good btw! The glow on his helm really made him stand out and provided some interesting lighting effects.

Some of your inks appeared a bit squiggly but I can't really be the one to talk as I myself have difficulty doing so but I think your style would get that extra oomph if you added more TLC with your inking next time and when the time allows it. Panel 1 , page 2 is my favorite panel. IDK he just looks so sleek and cool putting that jacket on and I really love how you placed your lights and shadow on that one.

I was already enjoying the comic and then BAM! That Teddy Bear totem at the end!! I wonder who owns it? Is it a child? Would D-R8K go ahead and eliminate them if they get in the way?? So many questions. I cant wait to see more!

Skoobert_Doob

to start I just want to gush about the lighting in this comic, especially the sheens on things like the gold details of the coat and the subtle gradient on D-R8K's face are beautiful. The way you've mixed blurred and crisp lines for shadows just makes the lighting pop so well. The pinkish shadows with accents of yellows on page 3 are another amazing touch, especially with the moody lighting on the main officer's face. The artwork, on the whole, is great, the characters are expressive and you get a good sense of the team's personalities even as they stand lean or sit. Despite the main character not having any dialogue you get a very good sense of who they are and how they feel through micro-expressions and posture.
overall just a really good comic, I'm super excited to see more from this character and you know I'll be back in here whenever the next part of the story comes out gushing about that colour and lighting.

This was super fun to read, i love the the worldbuilding in this comic, it manages to introduce the basic premises of the Oculama world even with very little actually showing of it, this also gives it a great sense of mystery along the way. At the same time the uniforms of the squad/organisation look super cool. very much looking forward for more Stuff in the future, when more Stuff is introduced about this world and the charachters in it. And to fill up the onehundred letters, damm this robot got drip not going to lie. Thank you for the comic great work.

This is by far my favorite comic so far. First off, I love your artstyle and colors. Second, I love your character! D-R8K seems like a cool guy. Wonder what Dragon Quest game was he playing on that Super Nintendo... (if possible please reply to me lol). One of the things that I love about this comic is how it gave us a glimpse into the lore of Oculama. This made more sense to me after Eric dropped the lore. And it makes wonder about the Totem and to who it belongs. All in all, I can't wait to see more of your guy in action! Yours truly,
maxes

This was really interesting! The character didn't say a thing and yet I felt a lot of emotions on their behalf. That is some good stuff. I think I was a little confused at the panel with the phone alert being handwritten and then nice text being used on the next one. Especially because it was right after a really clever and clear pixel videogame panel, it felt like the alert text was forgotten and the handwritten stuff was the placeholder stuff that just remained there.that second page with getting dressed set a great tone and I really enjoyed how you did the gold on the clothing and just the design in general. The totem got me right in the gut, especially the whole elimination thing. This writing was great and I am gonna demand more sweeping crew.

Doygie

Ah!! The Sweepers! I love the clean execution on this intro comic - all of your panels read super well, and the movement from one scene to the next is very logical and smooth!

I do wish we had a bit more from D-R8K themself, though! I got a lot of information on the organization they work for from this comic, but only snippets of what their personal life is like! Is this robo sentient? Do they enjoy what they do? Do they experience fear? I wanna know, I'm greedy!!

But!! Other than that, the technical aspects of this comic are great! You are absolutely incredible at using tonal/color contrast to move a reader's gaze & draw attention to the subjects of each panel. I am so excited to hopefully see more of your work in the Oculama rounds proper, Nachte!! 💙

Eric

I love how intriguing this comic is. Right away, you've really done a great job at painting a picture of D-R8K's day to day life and him making sure that we're acquainted with what he's all about. It makes for an excellent intro comic. Your art is looking good as well, I've really enjoyed all of the artwork that you've done in the build-up for D-R8K as well. You really painted an awesome picture of his world and all of these side-characters, who I'm interested to learn more about. You also did a great job picking up the lore and adapting it for your own, which has me very curious to see where you go with it. Knowing what I know about your skills, I'm super excited to see you get up to some cyberpunk-Appleseed-Alita type mischief with him and that makes me most excited of all, since I know that's the element you thrive in. I am super excited to see what you end up doing with him. This was an excellent intro comic and I'm so happy you're here to make some comics and share your art with us! Great work!

This has solid coloring, nice pacing, and to the point narrative presentation. There's a good sense of character design as well, especially with rounding off the supporting cast. I would love to see works with the rest of the crew featured in here. Ahmet seems like a sweet person, I'd like to hang out with them. Regarding D-R8K himself, there is enough to get an idea of who he is (quiet, team player, gamer) though I'm not sure how much the others will feature later on.
This works as an introduction, and I do want to see what happens next!

SupremeKrispyKreme

I actually read this comic before actually reading D-R8K's character page; Honestly, I think this comic does a fantastic job at showcasing D-8RK's personality and providing lore for them/their backstory, all in just five short pages. The debriefing scene perfectly establishes what the character and their organization does, and how far they're willing to go for the sake of keeping the multiverse in working order. The last page with Ahmet I think gives a lot of ambiguity as to how D-8RK feels about having to potentially hurt a child for the sake of his job. I think the layout of the comic and use of paneling is pretty cool and dynamic.
