This one was the, Hardest. Match-up. Of this Round.
I am so goddamn happy for this match-up because it gave me exactly everything that i could have wanted out of either, AAGHGHH I LOVE SAL I LOVE INGA I LOVE THEM AT EACH OTHERS THROATS AND FIGHTING ITS SO GREAT I think the toning and composition are just MWAH magnifico! The timelines essentially all collapsing in on Inga is so well executed, the sepia tones work so well with who Salty Dog is as a character AAA its all excellent!!
I feel as if your cartooning is so practiced, so honed that it really does make this feel like such a solid read! There are so many charming, perfectly composed pages and absolutely no wasted time, neither narrative nor compositional. Each page has something to contribute that would change the comic in massive ways should they not have been there, and that i believe is the mark of an Amazing show of comic prowess!! There's not many chunks of comic that are as efficient as this and i think that was the strength this comic had that pushed it over the edge in my judgement. It starts, ends and gets everything done it wanted to.
Once again, this was the, Hardest. Match-up. Of this Round.
THEY'RE ALL SO SILLY I LOVE THE DYNAMIC HERE ITS EVERYTHING I WANTED OUT OF THE MATCHUP HAHAHAAH. Hey call me biased but Promethia is such a fun character and i love the way these pages introduce the chasm and I love how there is immediate character dynamic from the JUMP they are at odds with each of their wacky bits, how each of their skills (a dance of Time & Space) just clash and lead them both into this round, and how you really know how to use the most of this page format! if there is one thing i may bring up is that the big black intro cards may have small hiccups in the pacing, and id rearrange some of the speech balloon placements, as at some points the pacing of the comic is made awkward by there being a speech bubble in each and every panel, slowing down some of the faster paced segments like during the fight with the stone golem! These can create these little break ups in the flow of an otherwise wonderful page.
I believe that with such small, compact panels and with such thick panel boarders, i think there is a bit to say about the visual noise within the panels themselves, there is some great detail put into the backgrounds to make the cave feel rocky, but some of the lines are so grouped together, so close that they make the panels feel crowded. A good example is on page 3, opening to a panel of The Chasm with plenty of space for the eyes to rest, but the panels become rather cramped and while the art is detailed and clear and readable, there is a feeling of it being cramped-- These panels deserve a bit more room to breathe! The problem is alleviated mostly within the rest of the fight scene with the golem though, the wide shots giving the fight scene plenty of screen room for the eye to take more time to wander. Overall i am very happy to see you join my tournament and have the first ever Marches comic in the sites history!! GREAT STUFF !!
Rivana
Got a chuckle from both of these!! I love the contrast between Selby and Inga so much. It makes for such fun dynamics.
Piñata - Stellar work as usual! The dynamic way you tell your story (in visuals and dialogue) with impeccable delivery is such a master class for a lot us.
Marchetowersart - I love Inga so much. Definitely one of my favorite wizards out there with interesting personality and powers. The way the rift cracked through the panels was such a clever choice and really drove the point home. Great job!

these were both so much fun to read!
Pinata, Lovely work! Loved the backgrounds and your jokes were great. Fun way to play with time travel, what a Treat!
Marchtowersart, what a fun way to start off the tournament! real fun interaction between the two characters, I really liked the use of the rift between the paneling.
great work you guys!

Piñata - Inga is such an absolute stinker in this one but I adore them nonetheless - dropping little puns on Selby while making her start her journey over and over again was a genuinely delightful touch.
(I love the gag of Selby digging straight through the things - bones and treasure - that she states she's looking for at the same time - QUALITY gag)
Your backgrounds are absolutely KILLER - some of the best in the tournament so far. There's a crispness to the drawings yes, but also an amazing amount of detail that makes it all feel quite real, and a level of attention paid to making the setting seem used/ worn that REALLY pays off! The Osteon way looks absolutely EPIC, and might be one of my favorite bits of scenery in the whole tournament so far.
How everything resolves feels well-fitted to the rest of the comic - sometimes a character comes up with a clever work-around to a unique magical situation. Sometimes they just rage out and maul the adversary with a whole pack of pals~~~
REALLY good comic, and one of the most fun reads so far.

MARCHETOWERSART - I got a lot out of your backgrounds in this one - the tower stuff is very good, but the chasm backgrounds are top-tier, and I like how grounded therein all the action of your comic feels once the characters fall through the static.
On that note, the action panels are their own delight; I really enjoyed watching Inga and selby clamber all over the cavern as they fight the rock monster (and each other, tbf). Big fan of Selby's giant anchor club!
(Also the 'creation of man' visual gag busted me UP)
The page compositions are a delight throughout, and the vertical format of course serves the theme of venturing downward. Especial love to how you handle the "tear" on page one, having it flow through the page and panel compositions, and having it blend with the phone ringing at the top of the page and Selby's full-color emergence at the bottom.
The applications of cartoon logic in this comic are pretty choice. Naturally, there's Selby's whole click schtick, but the smaller moments like Sleby running up into empty air in the tower and Selby splattering into (and then pulling back out of) puddle-mode got some out-loud chuckles as I read through the comic.
Very cool to see Selby and Inga decide to travel together at the tail end of this - I'm always deeply intrigued when the party grows over the rounds of an OCT!

What a fantastic round oh my lord! you interpretation of Inga was so very entertaining!
And Selby my goodness i dont know why i didn't think of the brilliant reasoning that she might be looking for bones FDSAGHJKL
If that ends up being her reasoning in my entries as to why she dragged Inga into the Chasm, Ingas gonna be so pissed hahahaha
The way you showed off Inga's time powers was so much fun (especially the behind the back Ricochet Shot B^) ), i also appreciated seeing how Selbys decaying sanity and frustration bubbled up stuck in that groundhogs day came across lmao
And for as powerful and smart as Inga could possibly be, Even Inga is not immune to getting JUMPED by all those Dangerous Dogs
Excellent Round i am so grateful for your hard work putting together this excellent round!!!

6 pages of utter hilarity! Love the tongue firmly in cheek when it came to the humor page to page. You made Selby funnier than she had any right to be. Which is not to say Inga's a slouch. What a good natured and punny wizard, considering the unintentional adventure they were dragged along to.
I love how much you colored outside the lines so to speak. Using the gutterspace of your pages to give that spacial rift more of a punch as the eye traveled down the page. Also the pop of color to show Selby's channel surfing was too cool. Never has a dog looked more radical channel surfing.
Fantastic work- Inga became a quick favorite for me :D
