I love Lu! She's badass and cool. That wave attack in the first page blew my mind!! I really like your art too. The use of spot blacks here really makes ths comic pop, and the colors.... I love the colors here so much. Other than that, this is a bit of a nitpick, but... the last page confused me a bit. Where was the portal located?? Was she heading home or was she already in her house? But other than that, I'm excited to see Lu kicking butt in the multiverse among the amazing characters we've seen so far. Best regards,

Stunning style! Theres a wonderful visual language going on here that truly complements the story. The story itself leans in to conciseness, feeling free to use panels without dialogue, and this adds another facet to the confident creative vibe as a whole! The characters move in and out of scenes easily, no information is missed, but the most important information is highlighted well. I am a huge fan of the edge of minimalism used here, but (grasping at straws for a point of constructive criticism), maybe look out of for leaning too far into that spartan aesthetic. Its a thin line to ride, but balancing it with a sprinkle of decoration could really bring it to the *chef's kiss* level! So excited to follow this character!
I'll just start off by saying I really like this. The art style is fun and bouncy, and the writing, dialogue and all, is campy in a fun way. The anatomy of the characters feels a little unpolished (although I do like how distinct it makes the comic feel), and while the poses are great to look at and really grab the reader, some of it feels a little off, like the stiffness in the shoulders in a couple of them. The exposition does feel a little front-loaded, but again, it gives the comic a pulpy charm.
The panelling was very well done. The chaotic placements at the start mirror the little girl's fear (without compromising on readability), and the erasure of borders at the bottom of the first pace really make the powers feel mystical and beyond the regular world. The flashback panels are set out in a very clear and simple way to show that it's something that has happened in the past and has had time to settle, as well as act as a breather from the action, and the last page works as a midway point for the first two, having the descending, semi-broken format of the first page, but with some of the order of the second to show that it isn't something outright dangerous (though definitely not "normal"). Also, repeating the border erasing effect really gives the piece good cohesion and clarifies that what is happening is in fact supernatural.
Overall, this looked a little rough at first glance, but the more you look into it, the more you see the thought and attention that went into it. This feels professional, despite (and partially because of) its unique art style.
You're spot black work in this is absolutely on point for your characters. It works extremely well to block them in and give them real solid definition and shape.Your characters period are super on point and really dynamic, you make everyone very interesting to look at, not just the protag.
Those spot blacks are so striking though that when they're absent it stands out immediately. The first panel on page 3 could absolutely use the same harsh blacks at the rest of your scenes, and I think the realistic colors here hindered it. The limited colors works super well with your heavy blacks, I might suggest trying two-color or maybe three-color backgrounds just separating fore/mid/back and relying on your gorgeous ink work and the hue to set the tone. You do this in the scene where she saves someone from a car and it works wonderfully, try pushing the color variance a little wider and it'd pop even more!
The story was solid, a great 'vigilante' introduction with some good flair. I'm very curious about the being on the hand pillar and I like these initial pieces of Lu's personality that we've seen. Looking forward to more!!
Artwork:
Very complete , compositions are full, colors are striking informative and moody. There was a bit of a thinning out at the end where colors bled together but it doesn't detract from the whole thing at all and its telling. The cartooning is very on purpose with radical face angles and body language. Normally I wouldn't be into it but you make it work. At two pages this is a complete package with nice colours !
Writing.
This one uses the typical hero origin formula and tells a very to the point story. The important part is that this structure was used to not only inform us of the "origin" but to reveal Mystic Lu's human sides and conisely pen down a third party. It doesn't reinvent the wheel but it gives momentum for a next installment.
Entertainment.
Concise and uncomplicated ! Even though I was just curious to read comics I was able to finish the whole thing without much effort. This is good even if this wasn't my style preference to read initially. But now I feel like I'm properly briefed to throw down with Mystic Lu.
I was already hooked when I saw the banner! Not even having a context already told me that this was going to be a good comic and it did not disappoint! I really love your confident and bold inks! It's also really neat that you used your inks to denote texture. It was particularly apparent in Lu's jeans. You're really making me want to try heavy, bold inks again. Your sense of lighting is really good too. That bottom panel on page 1 has such a huge impact. I felt that punch!
The lettering is also so clear and easy to read. Imma use that font in my comics now too lol. The story follows a well-proven trope - an unexpected hero character. But where Lu differs from most is that she seems to immediately commit to use her newfound powers for good and doesn't appear to look hung up on whatever personal issues/circumstances she may have. Or did she just bite off more than she can chew? Curious about where this door will lead her exactly. My guess is another world/dimension to keep with the lore of the site. Excited to see how she's going to adapt to these new unknowns!
There's some really good stuff going on here. I like the general style you've used, the stark blacks, the cel shading, and Lu's face is great. Lu cuts a dashing figure, and her no-nonsense design is appealing to both experienced brawlers and comics newcomers alike. I have a feeling she'll be popular. Her simple backstory and setup provides a low barrier to entry, and affords plenty of freedom for opponents to take her in a lot of different directions.
I would have liked an establishing shot on page 1. We get a few slivers of background to assume we're in an alley, but a proper establishing shot, or even just illustrating some buildings in the ample blank white spaces of the page would have gone a long way.
On the flip side, I like your minimal use of environment props in 2.3. So you clearly have an understanding of when to drop out detail to create a good, clear composition. In 3.1, the background could use a bit more texture. Ink those buildings freehand, to give the place the same character as your figures and faces.
This is such an unconventional design- not only for this main character, but most of your people in your comic. Lu's facial proportions are jarring, but they work in the universe you've introduced us to. If nothing else, I'd just keep an eye out- I noticed her mouth sinks so low in the frame work of her face, we lose a jawline and chin. Still! Everything seems to accent her from the colors to the inks. OMIGOSH THE INKS. That impact inkwork on the baddies stomach for that palm hit on the bottom of page 1 is awesome, You really went ham with the detailing on the shadows
Also who's the mystery magic mongerer? Possible Klepp cameo? >;D
Overall nice first entry. I like the style choice of heavy spot blacks and limited color palette. The lighting was used effectively to aid in the story telling. The writing was pretty straightforward, you get a feel for the character over the course of a few pages. Anatomically, there were issues that stood out to me in a few areas. Some of them seem like a mixture between a stylistic choices and a lack of ref. It can be tricky finding that balance of how far you can push things before they start to break, especially when turning a figure in space. Some of your problem solving with the line work to illustrate certain effects were pretty clever. For example, when the palm strike hit the big dude in the stomach. I'm looking forward to seeing more work from you in the future and I curious to see how the character develops..
Heck yea more mysical martial artsy punch girls!
Dig the tone of this intro. Feels like one of those older pulpy action comics especially with the narration and the big LU text at the end. I am curious about what exactly are the mystic powers she has now beyond to magic punch thing. Though I guess that's something meant to be revealed as you do more comics with this character. Also like the design. She has a fun and expressive face that's stylized and distinctive. This is definitely the kind of character that makes me want to get in on this whole comic battle thing just to fight her.

Dope intro. Simple design, simple backstory, limitless potential. I don't know if we've got hitlists around here, but I've written the word "FIGHT" on a sticky note, and then "Lu" beneath it, and stuck it to my desk.
