A younger Montaigne dabbled in dread cosmic power and incurred debts that, to pay, would rend her to shreds. Faced with encroaching consequences, she got her shit together like a champ and landed a steady career as a middle-manager in the Spooks, the Bogeyman's vast and shadowy criminal enterprise. In exchange, the Bogeyman lends Montaigne immunity from her creditors. She settled down with her moon-girlfriend, giving her hands and eye as moon-dowry for the moon-wedding and in return, her new moon-wife loosed the constraints of her shallow earthly form. With her amassed cosmic magic Montaigne buries claws in every darkened street, spreading Spook territory across the multiverse in order to buy herself time, day by day. Life in her world is transactional and with nothing of her own left to spend, Montaigne's future must be taken.
