Boy oh Boy. Haven't used this character in a minute. And boy howdy does it pick up on a storyline I havent been writting since 2023...

If you ARENT familiar with Xerxes, I would recommend reading His last round, and Queen of Hurts Round 1 against Cloud 9.

TLDR: Xerxes locked away by paint The wizards watch over and guard his prison. Xerxes scars Heartwell, makes a herald. Queen of Hurts and her rabbit hop through panel and paint space to recruit Cloud 9. Cloud 9 is never seen again but pink clouds can be seen sometimes. Queen of Hurts is killed, but her rabbit is left alive.

And now. This.

Winner!

If there's one thing we can look forward to in your comics, its seeing what fenagling and connections you make with the characters on the site. The idea of gathering all the wizard adjacent characters not only to cameo but serve a narrative function is really smart beyond being set dressing. It's stuff like this that make things like am museum or even a spooky pocket dimension feel real and populated. With how inconsequential time is to beings like Xerxes and even Prince, I love the Chekov's gun of the mysterious yellow hatted stranger already there working on crafts with anna while poor prince has their whole mind discombobulated with some Daddy issues.
Your colors per usual never disappoint. The colorful chaos of Xerxes palette is so distinctive that you need only swathe this dimension in that shade for the reader to lowkey know they aren't trapped in here with wizards. Wizards are trapped in there with him.
I know this is a continuation of a past story but I honestly think it doesn't need it. The events seem to stand alone well enough on their own. I think the only things that doesn't work without context is the bunny. But even with, I'm left wondering what its purpose was.

what a visual feast. I love the grayscale of the museum only to be brought into an explosion of color. And its not even a cacophony of shades, you picked two and rocked our eyeballs with it. It really makes Prince stand out as they have their one on one with Xerxes. Which speaking of- way to interpret your opponents character in an all encompassing way. Feeling the paint watchers influence and presence, down to them affecting the comic panels themselves is a really inspired move. As to the subject of inspiration, there's something really cheeky and defining about that indigo stripe added to the piece Anna and prince are viewing. Love the parallels of Xerxes and Anna finally getting the abstract canvas they're viewing with new eyes. You have a really fabulous way with visual storytelling that really doesn't need to be spelled out

InkySlime

Oh *Chef Kiss* I really love what you are putting down with this story. You made really good use of your opponents character and I think you set up a plot thread really nicely. I really like the way you did your page layouts too, everything flowed really nicely. I really liked page 5's set up you just really nailed how he just, really engulfs everything.

I can't think of anything major to critique, more so a suggestion. With a character like Xerxes especially, I'd really like to see you play with color in your storytelling. I think You could do some really clever things.
Very well done friend! I really wanna find out more!

I just ADORED this Doe! I just loved how you set up your pages, and your use of color for how you told this story was really well used. You used 5 pages really effectively here.
The only critique I can think of is fairly minor, and more of a suggestion. I really loved your use of halftones for the grayscale element. I think pushing your darker tones a bit more would have made the pages pop a bit more.

But awesome job dude, this was an adorable comic to read.

Ninja - I love the plot you got going on here, truly! It not only affects Prince, Anna and Xerces, but the entire fate of the Junction as well. It's something I'll have to keep tabs on because I am always intrigued by interesting and complex villain-type characters. Xerxes definitely checks all those boxes. I'll be curious to see if this is gonna be the new canon in Prince's life from now on (Xerxes being his father). I guess it depends on who wins this match!

The art here is quite good as well. This is probably one of your more polished pieces. Really great job with lots of storytelling potential! And thanks so much for the Raven cameo! <3

Doe! So good to see Anna and the Prince again. I love the style choice you made for this comic. The black and white backdrop, screentones and the limited palette. I thought you also picked the colors well to help with the plot. It always excites me whenever I see a comic that utilizes both visuals and storytelling to advance the narrative in the way you did. I thought Prince's approach of helping both Anna and Xerxes at the same time was an exciting one. I know Prince is Anna's imaginary friend but this makes me wonder how connected they really are (do they communicate subconsciously? Is Prince a projection of Anna's hidden powers?) Fun stuff!

This was a terrific story. The way you handled Xerxes, a character who has not been seen in quite a long time, and his disappearance was very well done. It felt almost nostalgic the way you pulled out all of the previous wizards from the Inaugural Tournament and found a purpose and cameo for them here. Prince being his son felt very appropriate and was a very solid little plot-twist (and hook) for the characters to interact. Artistically, it felt like a step-up in some ways. My guess is there was an improvement with your line-widths in the inking, but its hard to say. Perhaps the story heightened the art. This was another terrific comic for a week. Fantastic work!

Gorgeous. This is an incredibly gorgeous comic. The way you navigate your colors and developed the pacing of it was terrific looking. The tones were on point and looked amazing, to say nothing of the choice of primary colors for the mystical interactions. The story is so simple, but in a very positive way. For a one week comic, this is a stellar example of what can be accomplished in the time-frame. You should be proud of yourself for this. Excellent work!

always cool to see your comic style and I enjoyed getting further progression on xerxes lingering threat story. I was a bit confused from not having read up on the old comics for him in a while but once I did it help with understanding a little bit. overall I am a little confused how xerxes poofed away so fast and I assume the rabbit is queen of hearts related so Im curious to see what the next installment brings! though on side note im unsure of the scar unless its that xerxes escaped? the connection to prince and xerxes is really cool btw

I think your art is always so soft and fun to look at so it was a nice contrast to have them vocal points of the comic be bathed in color against the hard grey of the exhibit! I do like that Anna the prince are close and that anna can learn from things from The prince's more cookoolander methods of seeing the world! I enjoyed that the prince was able to share that same method of viewing the world with xerxes and hopefully helped him stop being incoming threat but I am a bit confused on the scar for this one as well aside from I am also guessing xerxes escaping
