This was super cool Minty!! I'm so sorry I wasn't able to give a round of my own in return. The character work here is fantastic, they'd totally be best buddies after this!! Wishing you the best of luck as you move forward in this tournament!!!

Yay teamwork! Yay pass!
Loved how you used colors in this round - it made for a really cool first page, plus it also made following and reading the comic very easy. The paneling and composition was really nice too! It did really make the best out of the limited pages we had and made reading the comic very fun.

This was such a shockingly "friendly" comic! I don't think I was expecting a clean comic without any drama, just two very competent students engaging in their test in a very competent way! We also got a really solid sense of your character and it really gave a good sense of who Elar is. I really like the abstract way you handled your backgrounds, the solid colors representing the cracked ground was a really unique way to do that. In general, I would have liked some more background work. Some stronger establishing shots would have done you a lot of favors since it's basically empty space otherwise without anything to help ground us.
Really solid read! Great work!

Very nice work on this Minty. I really like the story you have here, the two heroes working together and being the only one to showcase a disaster scenario was really cool. I think you did a fantastic job at characterizing Elar and rubrum. I do think there's a few issues with the pacing of your paneling. You have a lot going on in page 6 and it has some weird paneling towards the bottom which could be cleaned up a little bit more. It's kind of the issue with lower page counts cause you could've made it all work if you had that one extra page but it is what it is, I would just watch out for that in the future. One little thing as well is to just watch out for your backgrounds. I did find it hard to really understand what was going on when Elar got crushed, a few extra details in those panels and the events leading up to the crush would've helped clarify that alot more, but again, it's all tough when you only have a week to do these comics. Great work though, really well done comic Minty. Congrats

The visuals in the first few pages are noticably stronger than the last few, presumably due to the tight deadline, but I really like what you managed to do! You crammed a lot of content into seven pages, but it doesn't feel bloated. I like the way you depicted Elar's abilities in page 5 being very viscerally disturbing to other people. The fact that his power is so freaky is a really nice contrast with his personality. He feels very normal, in a good way. I'm looking forward to seeing more next round!

I enjoyed how smoothly Rubrum and Jeremy worked together here - you write the cooperation very convincingly.

You've made quite a few good choices here, visually speaking. The choice to color-code the speech bubbles goes a long way in preserving the readability of the comic, and its nice to have an anchor to keep the dialogue straight once the characters really dive into the action. The red-yellow contrast is visually appealing (I LOVED the half-diagrams of each character on the first page; SUCH a nice touch), and in Rubrum's case pairs nicely with the occasional splash of red we get on his civvies and when we see his power manifest in certain panels.

Glad to see Jeremy off to the races, and looking forward to reading how you have him interact with whatever OC he faces next!

This was a really solid comic, especially for a one week deadline!
I really liked the layout of the first page. The Skeleton opposite the nervous system is a really nice touch, I thought it was clever and looks really nice.
Overall I think Layout and panel flow was really good. I do think some of the composition could be tweaked. an example is page two panel one, where I think you could have made them larger/more opposed with the text in the middle so it wasn't so bottom heavy in the composition. But Honestly, thats pretty minor.

It's a really strong comic, especially for a one week deadline. Well done! I can't wait to see what you do next!

Since it's not 100% complete I'm not gonna get too in the weeds of things that you are probably already aware of and will take with you into the next round. I will say that I really appreciate how legible and light and easy this was to read, and would see more of these two spending time. I also like that it looks like the cat is meowing in two different languages! Good luck next round!

Love the costumes and how they were depicted in your comic. Establishing both characters with the skeletal and nervous system as nods to their respective powers and your sole source of color was really clever. I think the only note that I would give is that the ruins these two heroes are traversing to search and rescue seemed like such an important element of the story, but your manner of depicting said ruins may of been too simple/obscure to really pick up what they were doing when interacting. I wouldn't of known they were lifting rubble off someone or something unless I had read them stating as much. Still ,the cutthroat deadline for this first round and environments like cityscapes are tough to make happen. Especially when those cityscapes are ruined.
All in all though, this was a fun little romp and introduction as to who Elar is. Looking forward to more!

dang! you really went all out of really digging into your opponents character and the amount of details you used to layout their stats and lore beats was really neat! I loved the different xray shots especially and the stats/test scores info was really neat and should tots carry that into the next round. your lines and greys were very clear and simple to follow with the neat contest of them helping differnt people being moved along the story and them both relating to each others similar powersets was a nice buddy comic brewing throughout nice work!
