That first page spread is so good and is so fun to just follow and let your eyes flow through and just get a sense of a slow meandering time moving through the scraps and wreckage. I think the rest of the comic does a good job starting to set up a tone for future comics and I feel it is foreshadowing the universal aspect of the site and characters losing themselves into another universe or just simply implying none of this is real. I do feel the latter half of the comic feels a bit empty with the reused space texture and perhaps some debris moving or floating around him even if it was remotely empty could really give a sense of time passing. Over all really good stuff cant wait to see where this goes.
I love the mood of this from the first page. Desolate and haunting as our lil guy traverses a mountain of space junk to a little tune. The style of that descending page as he makes his way down the junk pile is great. Way to make us follow the movement that way.
It's so wild to see such a simple little pup get plunked into such vast settings such as space, the muddling of the mind with hallucination and the tumble from the future and into the past. Your comic prompted alotta questions, but not unpleasantly so! It's more just further intrigued as to what ol' Fenry has in store going forward.
Also I'm wondering if this was done in traditional media or digital meant to look like trad because its pretty dang sweet
Strikingly simple and to the point, but super effective! The big blank backgrounds and slow pace of the page turns really adds to the vast lonely space feel. The use of cut-out illustrations on a photo backdrop works really well here, with the exception of the big pile of space debris on page 1, where the diffused transition from junk to space is a little awkward (almost appearing like some sort of memory or hallucination, which is unhelpful considering the rest of the comic!). Harder edges around the structure could sell it better as wreckage drifting through an enormous void. There's little else I can say!
Given I've seen so many comics from you it's exciting to see these new designs playing up an aesthetic I've never seen you tackle before: gritty industrial scifi. Obviously there isn't much at the moment, but I already really like the oily black sheen of Fenry's spacesuit and skeleton-like ribbing. Excited to see wherever you take this!
Very lovely comic. I like how you used value to separate Fenry and their memories from the background/what is currently taking place. The brown/sepia was a lovely choice. The Transition was also really well done and wets my appetite in anticipation for what's gonna come next.
The only critique that comes to mind is on the third page the traditional and digital elements don't blend together as nicely as the rest of the comic but I only noticed that on 3rd read through. Overall pacing is really good, it's a great set up and I really want to know what happens next to Fenry.I want more!!!
Ominous! This comic doesn't say much but I think it is its strength in this case. Fenry hallucinates in his day job in the middle of the vastness of space. That actually feels terrifying. Just being alone out there in an endless Void.
I am also impressed by the genius use of textures so Fenry's drawn/cut-out style doesn't clash with the realistic space bg. They blend perfectly well together. I am very curious to see how his past intertwines with his present job. How he is when he actually has to interact with other characters/people. Does he get these visions/hallucinations too? A lot of questions I can't wait to find answers for. So excited to see him in the Inaugural!
Your art style lends itself well to the clutter of space. It is rather messy, but but it's not distracting, and you've used the setting of space well. Fenry's warm colour palette sticks out against the cold palette of space, and fits in well when he switches to a paperboy. Given the greater context of how the Oculama setting works, I can see two directions the hallucinations may go (visions of the future or memories of the past universe), and both are very interesting.
Upon re-reading, I noticed how there are multiples of Fenry in the first two pages to show motion, and while there is only one in the third page, all those pages he's carrying take up a lot of space. When you reach the final page and there's just one little Fenry at the bottom, it really does show how alone he feels, especially as he descends, frozen, into the darkness.
MEEBOB!!!!! I'm glad to see you back again! This comic is really good. Pretty simple but very atmospheric. I love your watercolor style so much, it's got this authenticity that's hard to replicate in a digital medium. Fenry seems like a cool dog astronaut. I wonder what happened with the key that appears in the comic... did Arsénne steal it? Did he lose it? Did his life change because of it? Time will probably answer. All in all, it's good to see you back, and I can't wait to see your interstellar dog in some interstellar action! Yours truly.

Ohhhh jeez, Sheesh, this is amazing, Like genuinely this is such a beautiful comic. I am stoked to see more of this character. The backrounds in this comic really are just exceptional. Like I am just truly in absolute awe of how exceptional they look and I can keep gushing over how beautiful these backgrounds are but I've got to get to the foreground as well AND GOSH DANG. those newspapers, I don't know what it is about them but just looking at those newspapers makes me stupendously excited to see more of your art. This comic is just absolutely Stellar.
Man this is so cool. I love how you paint space, it's so subtle and beautiful, and works especially well with the slow transition to the deep full darkness. You really set up a great lil mystery which has immediately dragged me into wanting to know more about Fenry and seeing how they deal with the "hallucinations" and their past life. I do wish there was more dealing with that side of Fenry but i know this is just an intro and you can't play all your cards right now, just goes to show how great of an intro you made is. Great work, can't wait to read more of them in the inaugural.
I really enjoyed everything about this comic. The style has a deliberate feeling of roughness to it that helps the already desolate and lonely feeling of the comic. It's really to the point, and with a pretty heavy punchline that is set up well and drives home just how rough of a time the pup is having. Enjoyed it a whole lot, and I am excited for more. The prose is lovely, with how while short, it is spread out and well paced it to run like a thread throughout the comic. Very, very strong start to our space pups narrative!
firstly, taking a little background element from someone else's comic and fleshing them out into a whole character is a fun idea! love how fenry pops out from the background here, and the messy inks you do are very evocative. since there's only one, i do gotta give props to that nice cluttered interior shot, and otherwise i appreciate that maintaining the space boundary keeps the first page in line with the ungrounded feel of the following ones. if i had a complaint, it'd probably be that the hallucination isn't super fleshed out; it's an outfit change and some papers. you don't have to just put them back in that universe entirely, but there's definitely ways to get wackier with it, at least compositionally, to really emphasize how lost fenry is in the last page.
Tremendously pretty looking water colors. Absolutely fantastic art style. I really love how you painted and used this over a photo of space. Something about that coupled with your style gives this comic a very ephemeral look to it. The technical backgrounds of the space wreckage he's combing through is really well done and has a lot of excellent details to see. There's also those deeper hints of story on those later pages and I'm really curious to see what they means. I am very intrigued so far and I'm really wanting to see what you intend to do with them in the tournament. Great work on this one!
An overall great introduction that leaves a lot open to interpretation, the longing questions that one could imply and ask about Fenry's personality and life from just these few moments is really good character building!
Much like Fenry, this comic gets the job done with introducing a character with clear motivations and a history to be expanded upon- another soft bit of world building with the keys and a younger Fenry allowing us to get just enough of a peak into this character's life to want more and still be happy with what we have, cant wait for anything else that might be in the little guy's future! Or even the future of the corporation~

This is a really cool intro! I love the highlighting of each bit of spaceship/space junk Fenry handles on the first page to make 'em pop, and the shift between the old and present occupation has a well-conveyed sense of longing to it, esp with the callback to the lost totem :)
